For the Ojibwe, Grandmother Spider - or Asibikaashi - is a helper of the people. She is the one who inspired women to weave dreamcatchers. The Hopi and the Dine, speak of her in their origin stories as one of the dieties who breathed life into humans and structured civilization. In many of these spiritual inheritances, Grandmother Spider lead them on a journey through four worlds until they found the final one where they settled. This design speaks to embracing the collaborative work necessary to create loving community.
